I’ve got a story for you – I’m sitting in my dentist’s chair with my mouth gaping open while my dentist and dental hygienist converse over me. I’m equally listening to the conversation, not being able to partake, and mindlessly watching odd shaped fish swim across the Discovery Chanel screen. They start to discuss a niece who has made it onto some tv show, but they can’t remember the name of it until… lightbulb “Oh!! It’s called So You Think You Can Dance!”. My thoughts blurred in my brain while I was stuck with my mouth wide open – WHAT?! A local Minnesotan got on SYTYCD? What a cool accomplishment! I wonder where she danced. I wonder if she’d like to work together! I wonder how I can get in touch with her.. and when will my mouth be my own again that I can ask all these questions?!
Thankfully dental appointments do in fact come to an end – though that is NOT how it felt – and I was able to connect with her. Madison and I got coffee at Nina’s to meet, chat, and set up a date for a session. We lucked out with weather and were given a beautiful night for photos in – get this – her hometown of Stillwater. Oh how the stars aligned…
Let’s talk about Madison for a minute. She is one of the sweetest people I’ve met with a kind heart and a soft smile. She is a powerful dancer with so much control and is entirely all too modest about her skill. Madison and Jarrod, her boyfriend, were so fun to be around and work with. The best people to have in front of my camera are people who care about what they do, are kind to others and themselves, and will go out to eat with me at Lolo’s after a session (lol, but also, it’s true).
Madison and Jarrod auditioned together on So You Think You Can Dance and have been making their way up the ranks. Madison made it into the top 10 this week and I’m stupid excited to watch the rest of her journey through SYTYCD. Do you watch it yourself? Madison and Jarrod even got asked to improv after their consecutive auditions and they killed it. Go watch it. Now. Or after you peek through our session together : )
Go give Madison a follow on the ‘gram!
Can’t you just feel the love? I was dying while taking these photos of Jarrod and Madison together. Their energy pulls you to them. Friends, I’m so glad we met and I’m so glad we got to spend an evening in Stillwater together!
With Stillwater as our backdrop, we couldn’t go wrong.
Wondering what our beautiful backdrops were? Tin Bins, Lora Hotel and Zephyr Theater’s practice room!
